Well that escalated quickly.
I’ve run the numbers but let’s just say things are exploding almost everywhere. Allowing for the possibility of still seeing some disruption, Maine was the only state that saw cases drop last week. The “cooler” spots are in northern New England and the northern Rockies. I’ll provide my current rankings but without a lot of comment because things are up pretty much everywhere.
Just so this isn’t all dark clouds, it looks like emergency department visits for covid like stuff could be peaking. And a few of the places where this all started are seeing the growth rate of cases slowing. On the CDC site, cases have exploded while deaths have stayed flat although given that deaths lag everything else, it is still a little early to draw any hard conclusions from that.
But when I look at places in Africa and Europe which saw the surge start earlier, we aren’t seeing the same rate of increase in deaths. I hate making predictions but my feeling is the situation two weeks from now is going to look a whole lot brighter.
OK, lets just get to the graphs. I’ll rank the states in each region before the regional graph. I did not modify the scales so many of the lines have crossed above the upper limit.
