To state the obvious, 2020 was a serious disturbance to the force. My ballroom journey has had some stops and detours and twists along the way. Until last night, I was confident that the train was back on the tracks and moving forward. Brush up on the old stuff, get ready to check out and then move on to the next level. Work on some routines for the next Showcase.
Now, I’m not so certain. I’ve had to pull out my old notes to review the various steps and patterns but there are gaps. There is more rust than I thought there would be.

There are things OwnerGuy wants me to start working on. He brought a lot of things up when he showed up to our lesson. It isn’t the steps but the lead/follow and body positions. PJ doesn’t have that level of experience, so if that’s what he wants, then he needs to be on more lessons and/or get that info to PJ. The studio is in a good place for male instructors right now and that may free him up but I’m not sure how it works in the long run.
And it could be that his thought process was to just focus on the routines and then get back into the other stuff next year. I was going to talk with him about the future until covid reared up and I ended up taking a week off. Think I’ll have to get some time with him.
I think it can work. I’m just not sure how long it is going to take the Silver 3 stuff to round back into form so I can put that behind me and move on. It isn’t going to be as easy as I first thought.
