What Comes Next?

So all the rumors were true and today I was terminated. Well it won’t be official until May 20th and they’ll pay me for the next two months but I really don’t have any responsibilities. As I said, I’ve really lost my passion for the place so this is truly for the best. And the two months plus severance gives me time to figure out what my next move is.

It was a pretty brutal day. I know there is no good way to do this but when you get an invite for a “organizational discussion”, then you know exactly what is going to happen. Today was the day I normally send out a fun little message to my team but I decided it was best to let them know what’s coming. Turns out that most of my team was dismissed as well. We are all meeting for breakfast tomorrow since they sent us all home after being dismissed.

It is a little scary right now thinking about what to do with the rest of my life. I have a few ideas and thoughts (the closet is still on my list) but I’m going to take advantage of the fact that I don’t have to jump right away. I’m just glad it is over.

Thought I’d have more to say but I kind of feel like I need more time to sort things out. So I’m just going to leave it here and maybe come back to it later.

  1. I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully this is a step toward something better, and not just something depressing that leaves a black mark on your life. At least with your last day being out in the future and a couple of months of severance pay after that, you could look at it as ‘paid job hunting’ if you decide you want to to look for a new job.

You could always move down here now that you have no job holding you where you are. I live around one of the 20 largest cities in the US, so you could probably find another job pretty easily in the area if you looked. Plus we have much warmer winters (which I’m sure you’d love), and lots of dance opportunities that I could introduce you to!

  2. Also sorry to hear this and truly hope it is a case of a door closing and an window opening for you. Best of luck!
