There are many repeating patterns in nature and I see some of them through the photos I’ve posted in various places. A couple of days ago, a memory popped up from last year showing a bunch of bluebirds gathered around our bird bath. Soon after, they arrived again this year.
Bluebirds are year round residents in these parts although I think we may be sort of on the fringe of where they can thrive year round. We get them all through spring and summer and then they disappear for several months showing up again around this time. I’m not sure if they go anywhere or just have other food sources they use but it is funny that they just seem to vanish.
Now they are back and super hungry. Good thing I still had some meal worms left over and we kept the feeder up. I’m filling the little cup twice a day because there are at least a dozen of them and they empty it in a matter of minutes. Then they converge on the bird bath (guessing dried meal worms can make you thirsty) so we have to keep that filled as well.
Probably just that we are an easy source of food and water that attracts them in the colder months when other options may be limited. I think they tend to stick around for a month or so and then they go away again before coming back in late winter. But I could be wrong on that so we’ll see how long they stick around.
Today was a bright, sunny day and it shows off the blue so well. You can easily spot them in the trees because that blue just pops against the browns and greys of the trees. And if you get a bunch of male cardinals nearby, you get flashes of red and blue. It is the only real color we’ve got right now so it is nice.
We’ve had no snow yet this winter and the current forecast does not call for any snow through the 20th. Based on past history, we’ve got about a 25% chance of having a white Christmas but it looks as if this one will be green. Probably means we’ll get some snow in late March and have a weird year where we get more snow in March than in December.
I’ll close with some recovery news. Had my two PT sessions last week and they are really helping. We did two last week to jump start things and now it is one per week for the next three which will take us through the six weeks the doc said it would take. The calf actually feels fine right now. There is very little pain but I can just feel something in there if you know what I mean. But I’m going to be smart and still take it easy because I think it is still in the stage where it’d be easy to aggravate. I’ll be dancing full out again soon enough.
