Well What’s Been Going On?

So I’m feeling a brief spark of creativity and thought I’d just do one of those year end summaries. Why? Why not. I mean the blog is mostly dead but I guess I have some reason to keep it from being all dead. Because if its all dead the only thing you can do is go through the clothes and look for loose change.

We did end up taking two plane trips this year marking the first time we’ve flown anywhere since pre pandemic. I know that’s a long time but flying just seemed to be a cluster truck for so long and I do hate planning so it was easier to not go anywhere.

It was two weddings. In April we went to Boston for one niece (her side) and just the weekend before Christmas we were in Washington DC for another niece (my side). Both were fun and it was nice to connect with family again. We did extend the Boston trip to get a few days to see the sights. Didn’t do that with DC because it was so close to Christmas.

One thing becomes clear when you go to a wedding. Take a few dance lessons and you’ll stand out like you’d never believe. While everyone else is kind of just gyrating randomly, actually dancing as a couple makes everyone think you are some kind of amazing dancer.

Yes, I’m still dancing. Actually had my strongest performance at a Showcase in September. One of the judges was in our studio before the event and we worked with him. After the end of Showcase, when we were going up to get our little trinkets, he came over to shake my hand and tell me how much he enjoyed watching me dance.

I had hoped to continue that in November but some physical things kept me from participating. It also kept me away from the studio for most of the month but I did get back in towards the end of the year. Kind of have a new focus which I like so the last couple of lessons have been fun. Looking forward to where next year takes me.

I also missed the Snowball dance because we had a big snowstorm on the day of the event and my driveway was buried. They didn’t cancel the event but attendance was very low.

Tigger the cat has now been with us for over two years. I grew up with cats but really didn’t pay much attention to their quirks and habits. Kind of always thought cats were aloof creatures who sort of tolerated being domesticated. Have since learned how bonded they can get to you and that they are probably more complicated than dogs.

Never thought we’d be a cat house but I’m super glad he decided to pick us.

Anyway, that’s a brief rundown of some things that happened last year. We are planning a much bigger vacation next year so that should be interesting. Debating on whether to bring in a cat sitter. We boarded him for our two trips this year and he survived OK but I’ve heard in home is less stressful and we’ll been gone a much longer time so that might be the best option.

Now we face what I have always considered the worst month of the year. Long, dark and cold. The only positive is that light slowly returns to the world but it is still the depth of winter and you don’t have the Christmas lights to make everything bright and cheerful.

Well I better get off and return this blog to its mostly dead state.
