Today’s exercise routine involved a lot of floor things so I had the mat out and was in the middle of a set of crunches when I saw a tail in my peripheral vision. I’ve mentioned this before, but after having dogs for most my life, it is hard to get used to how silent the cat is. He can just show up right beside you just when you least expect it.
In between sets, I was sitting up and he decided that my mat would be a great place to lie down. Because anything that the cat wants, the cat tries to claim. It wasn’t good enough to sit on the floor beside the mat or on any of the other places in the room where a cat could sit. No, he wanted the mat because (1) it hadn’t been there before and (2) I was obviously using it so he had to claim it.
Fortunately, he didn’t care too much when I moved him aside to do another set. Makes it interesting when you are trying to do a floor exercise and also trying to find a way to pet the cat that has decided he needs attention right now. The good thing is he gets bored rather easily and he quickly decided that I wasn’t worth his time and there were better things for him to do.
I have no idea what he got into but I’m hearing him chase stuff around in the other room. He managed to trip one of the mouse traps we’ve had set up for a bit. How he did that, I don’t know. But I heard it spring. We use containment type traps so no danger of him getting hurt by it. Plus, since he’s been around the house, we haven’t had any mice. The traps are just out in case.
But I finished the work out despite his attempts to distract me. Cats would likely fail as spotters.

Not really related but I was looking for cat quotes and I thought this one was funny.
My cats do the same thing every time I try to do yoga!
