The cold continues although we did get into double digits today (think we topped out at 12F). The forecast still suggest we’ll get a mini break tomorrow and Thursday before going back to the cold for the weekend. Although this next cold snap is supposed to be a bit different because the highs, while still below freezing, will be in the 20’s so it might not feel as bad.
This is January and we are just about at the coldest time of the year so this isn’t unusual. I know there are places that are colder for longer and I’m not sure how people can handle it. The house is at the right temperature but it always feels cold especially in the parts that are close to windows. Even with layers, it is still cold.
We had another light dusting of snow last night. Just enough to be irritating and to require clearing. Since it was mostly powder, the leaf blower made short work of most of it. Only problem is ours is electric and I didn’t feel like stringing extension cords together in the cold so I had to shovel parts of it. Ended up having to take breaks because you just couldn’t be out that long without my face and hands freezing. Yes, I had gloves on but it was just far too cold for them to work effectively.
As of today, we are now half way through January. This is one of those times when I don’t mind the fact that time seems to fly as you get older. Yes, it is technically still winter until March and February can often be as brutal as January but there is something about getting through January that makes it that much easier to start looking forward to spring.
On the good news front, at my dance lesson today, we did three quick rounds so I touched on almost all of the dances we do. There were some that we hadn’t done since before Showcase so there was two months of rust of a few of them. But the calf held up and doesn’t fell any worse for the wear. There was a little bit of something after we finished but it has quickly faded so recovery is almost complete.
