A couple of weeks ago, I think I mentioned something about wanting some more fall like weather and nature has certainly delivered. To be honest, I was thinking of more cool mornings with sunny afternoons to highlight the changing leaves. We’ve had cloudy and wet days recently. The kind of grey overcast stuff that can put a damper on your mood.
And there is a lot of bad stuff happening right now in the world. I sometimes feel like coming on here and writing about small stuff is kind of pointless. Then I get on Twitter (or X) for a bit and just see all the “hot takes” and anger and then I realize that even trying to write about the big stuff is useless. And probably more depressing when it becomes clear that there are many problems and very few actual solutions.
I do follow several cute animal sites on twitter so I get some relief from the real world issues. I guess many of us need an escape from time to time. Can’t imagine spending 24/7 consuming “news” which is often just opinions and semi-educated guesses. So there is room for places that offer a distraction.
Which brings me to our new cat. We brought him into the house for extended visits this weekend. After exploring every square inch, he basically settled down and spent a lot of time sleeping and that seems to be a common thing with cats. So we made the decision to keep him in the house last night as well. My first plan did not go well because the door to room we wanted to keep him in doesn’t close completely and he got is opened minutes after we put him in there.
Went to a back up plan which did work. I’m sure he’d rather be we us but he was quiet for the night and only started making noise when he heard us up and moving about in the morning. Yesterday, he showed no interest in going outside. Maybe he’s had enough of the great outdoors and is perfectly fine being an indoor cat.
He’s certainly made himself comfortable on various pieces of furniture including the table we use for our jigsaw puzzles. The good news is he hasn’t decided to bat any of the pieces off the table but, needless to say, he makes it rather difficult to work on the puzzle so we’ve been discouraging him from using the table as a resting place.
It has been three years since our last dog died and cats are different than dogs so there is this period of adjusting to having another living creature in your house. Still have no idea how he ended up outdoors and without a home. Guess he knew the right house to pick a couple of weeks ago.
