Another Monday

So if you are looking for some monday quotes and one liners to get by the Monday hues, here is the perfect collection.

I want to comment a bit on the above quote because there is certainly some truth to it. The last year or so of my work life is not something I would wish upon a bitter enemy. Most of my work life was a mix of good and bad moments but there was very little good at the end when the writing was one the wall.

Yes, changing jobs would have been better but the longer you work at a place, the more hooks they have in you. At the end, I had worked long enough to have a significant amount of vacation and a fairly nice 401K. Plus, had I made it to 30 years, there was a benefit that would have been nice. It was far too easy to get caught up in the cost of leaving without actually considering the cost of staying.

But that’s all over now.

Yesterday was the first big day of football. I’ll admit to being a fan although I do feel a little guilty in September spending all day watching when the weather is still nice enough to be outside and doing things. Of course, it is far easier to justify now because I don’t have to go to work today and we took a little walk just a big ago so I could some sunshine.

On Saturday, there was a little festival that serves as a fund raiser for a church. I probably shouldn’t say “little” because they brought in local musicians and had plenty of food and vendors. Not the cheapest options because it is a fundraiser but, since the weather was nice, we went to eat a bit. We’ve got another one this Saturday – different church so different food but it is typically fun.

The band that was playing when we got there had a strange mix of stuff. Most of it was more recent dance type stuff. They did a really bad version of Uptown Funk and then launched into a cover of Crazy Train. Crazy Train?!?

In case you weren’t familiar, the album cover looked like this.

It is an interesting choice to be played for a church fundraiser. I guess it is just another sign of how old I am since Ozzie was hardly mainstream when this came out. I mean it was right in my wheelhouse but it was hardly the type of song that you’d play at a family type gathering. When did this become respectable?

Well that’s really all I’ve got.
