The tech has come and gone and our heating/cooling system checks out just fine. We were the first stop so his shirt and pants were the cleanest they were going to get. Then he had to go down to our basement and into a corner where the cobwebs grew. Plus they hose down the outside unit and getting wet is unavoidable.
Seems like a waste to wear a nice white shirt with the company logo when the work you are doing makes it hard to keep stuff clean. But I guess there is a company image to maintain and people are probably a little leery about who they let into their house these days so wearing more appropriate and grungy stuff wouldn’t fly.
I was outside getting the hose set up for him and feeding the birds. At first, it actually felt a little cool but then the humidity just seemed to ramp up. One of those days where you can start sweating just from standing outside.
But, if you are going to have a heat wave, late August is not a bad time. We’ve lost enough day light so the sun doesn’t have as much time to really heat things up as it would in early July. Not that it cools off quickly but it is easier to cool things if you aren’t having to fight the sun.
I did select Ballroom as a topic so I should probably start talking about that now.
My lesson yesterday went well. We spent the entire lesson going over routines – Argentine Tango, Viennese Waltz and Two Step. The Viennese and Two Step are both high energy routines that move around the floor. So the Fitbit figured out I was doing something and flashed a message that I was “earning active minutes”. Yeah, no s*** Sherlock.
I’m getting more comfortable with the pace of the Argentine. We intentionally picked a piece that has fast and slow sections and the choreography was done to match the music. So it means there are parts where we need to draw it out more. Its a challenge because so many of the other routines I’ve done were just go, go, go. This is more about trying to feel the music and match the tempo. I really want to nail this one.
As luck would have it, the same guy who choreographed most of it is coming back for coaching next week. I think this is the first time I’ve had a coach work multiple times on the same routine but it will be good because he can work on the parts we need to draw out. And also provide some additional pointers on the things he showed us.
And next week is supposed to be cooler so the studio should be more comfortable.
