Bumps on the Road to Recovery

Of course, I still don’t know what I’m trying to recover from. The dry cough on Friday turned into something less dry yesterday. Slightly better today. I check for symptoms and it could be a cold, it could just be allergies. Probably not anything more serious than that though so it is just the irritation of waiting for it to clear up.

I did my workout this morning and it didn’t trigger any major coughing fits which seems to point to something minor but lingering longer than I would like. The weather app just told me that we could have limited visibility due to the smoke from the distant fires. And that air quality may be bad for “sensitive” groups. Probably a good day to stay inside as much as possible.

Friday, we went to see a turtle talk at a local park. It wasn’t widely publicized so we ended up being the only ones there. They did have a turtle who seemed to enjoy being out and about. Did confirm what I had read about what to do if you find one in the road so if I see another one, I’ll be ready.

There was an event this weekend at a local museum. The forecast called for storms on Sunday so we went down Saturday after doing our normal morning shopping. We parked on the lowest level and I decided to take the elevator up because my knees hate steps. Ended up in an almost full elevator sandwiched among people. Had some claustrophobia kick in and my mind started imagining being stuck in there (why did it do that to me). It was only two floors so it ended before I totally freaked myself out.

The storms held off until late afternoon on Sunday so we would have been good to go but you never know. There were severe storms in the area but they moved to the north and south of us so we just got some brief heavy rain. There were tornadoes around so the sirens went off a couple of times but I just kept track of where they were and there was no reason to seek shelter.

Hard to believe next weekend is close to July 4th. Our symphony plays at an outdoor venue with fireworks after and they are doing four shows over the weekend so nothing on the actual 4th. We have tickets for two of them and the current forecast calls for a chance of storms each day. Guess we’ll see what happens.

Well that’s all that’s going on. Got my lesson later today. If I felt like what I had was contagious, I’d skip but then my wife hasn’t picked up anything so I’m thinking it is really just allergies acting up. Won’t make it fun but I can still go and try to dance.
