Lieutenant Worf:
It is a highly localized distortion of the space-time continuum.
That is what yesterday felt like as I had my first lesson right around lunch time. It actually started on Friday when I didn’t go to the studio and so it felt like Saturday and I’ve been a day off ever since then.
Outside of PJ, nobody was aware that I had moved my lesson to the afternoon so I walk in and get the “what are you doing here” comments from Z and OwnerGuy. And the other instructors who showed up said similar things. Guess it felt like a distortion in the space-time continuum to everyone.
There was definitely a different vibe at noon. The studio had just opened so you are catching people early in their day unlike tonight when I’ll be there at the end of the day. There was only one other couple on the floor so there was plenty of space which is why we made the switch.
We ended up working on Argentine Tango so we didn’t need the space but I can see where it would be useful when we get to the traveling dances.
The studio is in a strip mall along with a UPS store and a Subway. They don’t get much business at night but there were lots of people stopping to get a sandwich or mail a whole bunch of packages. Not a big deal except that it meant there was more foot traffic outside the studio and more people looking in. I’m far too easily distracted (SQUIRREL!) so I’ll need to tune that out.
I do think that the energy created by a full studio is best but it will be nice to have at least one lesson where we don’t have to bob and weave around other couples and instructors.
I had planned on doing this post earlier in the day but Windows had other ideas. I noticed some glitches so I thought I’d just shut down and restart and there were the dreaded “update and restart” and “update and shut down” options. Could have ignored the update but then it would mean fighting with the issues so I just started the update.
Ended up leaving to go for a walk while it was still “cleaning up” . Not sure what it was cleaning. Guess the update created a mess of some sort. All seems to be in order now but there is nothing like being held hostage to the Windows update.
