I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, in case you were concerned. Well, some of you know since I “like” posts from time to time but I haven’t done a blog post in almost a week.
Things got busy and I didn’t have much to talk about. Had a lesson on Tuesday and then went to the studio Christmas dance on Wednesday (more on that later). On Thursday, we had dinner with some friends – its an annual thing. Friday I had to go out among the throngs and get some gifts.
I’m sure you have a long list of things to do and see during Christmas and we are no exception. There are several museums in town that do holiday themed displays and our zoo strings lots of lights and you can walk around in the cold and dark and look at the lights and sleeping animals. There is a small town about an hour from us that has some history where the old building have been turned into antique stores and other shops and they have lights all over the place. Again, it requires strolling in the cold but the lights always put us in a good mood.
So the last two weekends have been taken up with those activities and it is nice because it gives the two of us a chance to just get away and spend some time together. We do that most weekends but a lot of time is taken up with errands and this is more fun.
That means dancing has taken a bit of a back seat. I’ll be back in full force this coming week with lessons Monday through Thursday. I’ve got a coaching lesson on Wednesday and we will do our new Mambo routine at the party on Thursday.
The annual Christmas dance started off as a good time. But they decided to do some kind of mini team match. They did one last February and are planning to do another one in February so this was an opportunity to promote that. Of course, OwnerGuy did his usual lack of communication so I only found out from Kid T on Tuesday that we were doing it and that we were going to be team green.
As a concept, it isn’t a bad thing but the execution was awful. Z and the owner of the other studio were judges. Can you guess the outcome? Yes, it was a tie as they couldn’t agree. Now, they should have left it as a tie but they decided on a tie breaker so we all got called back to the floor and then told to switch partners and dance. Supposedly, they were going to tap out pairs until they got down to one from each studio but that didn’t even go right. They finally got it down and had to bring the wait staff in to judge. The whole thing took about 30 to 40 minutes (it seemed like hours). By the time they finished, I needed to leave since I still had to work the next day. So it ended as a mess.
As I was leaving, OwnerGuy finally told me about Sunny. Of course, he assumed I already knew which I did. We didn’t discuss anything else other that confirming that she was gone.
That was the week that was. Just wanted to give you a brief update. Expect more next week.
